In the heart of the city stands a striking historic building which is now part of London’s heritage. Moments from Tower Bridge, this Victorian Grade II listed building has been transformed from a world famous fish market into London’s premier event space. The distinctive building offers 80,000 square feet of flexible-use, conference and exhibition space, together with ample smaller meeting rooms and offices for ancillary workshops, private client meetings and/or preparation rooms. In addition, an entire lower ground floor (“The Vaults”), offers a unique vaulted space that can be hired that is suitable for social events or banquet-type dinners. This can be themed as needed, and provides added flexibility to the utility of the venue.
Overall, the ambience of the building is utterly unique and will provide a setting unmatched anywhere in the world. Old Billingsgate hosts some of London’s most prestigious events, from sparkling film premieres and awards dinners to large scale conferences and exhibitions. In Appendix 1 we provide a brochure from the premises’ management organisation, illustrating many recent events and showing the tremendous opportunities that can be taken to make the event truly stand out in delegates’ memories.
Situated on the south side of the financial district of the City, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, the building opens directly onto the River Thames, providing views from the patio area by the river that are unique in the world. Delegates will be surrounded by iconic London buildings and structures and will feel that they are really part of this ancient and famous city.
The venue is easily accessible from road, underground rail or river alike. The excellent transport links make it fast and easy for SPWLA delegates both to access the venue and to move around central London for off-site social events and/or visiting the enormous array of tourist activities that London has to offer.
And City Airport is just 25 minutes away, easily accessible via the Docklands Light Railway, for those wishing to make short-haul trips into or out of Europe itself either during or either side of the conference.
