About The London Petrophysical Society

  • A thriving and growing local chapter of SPWLA with 400 active members
  • The LPS exists to promote for the public benefit education and knowledge in the scientific and technical aspects of formation evaluation. The LPS does this through meetings and seminars, University support grants, Petrophysics Open Days and other educational support
  • 5 One Day Seminars per year
  • 9 evening technical presentations per year
  • 2018 marks the 45th anniversary of London Petrophysical Society, which was founded in 1973
  • The LPS hosted the SPWLA Annual Symposium in 1987 
  • The LPS has won the “Outstanding Chapter Award” on three occasions

Iain Hillier Academic Award Scheme

  • 2016 saw the 10th Anniversary of the Iain Hillier Academic Award Scheme which has helped some 64 students to a tune of more than £60,000 through MSc student prizes and Bursaries, PhD and University Grants

Dick Woodhouse Award Scheme

  • 2016 was the 3rd Anniversary of the Dick Woodhouse Award for Young Professionals and is quickly becoming a sought after accolade along with a £1000 prize, for those with up to 3 years experience in the industry
